The Royal Palace's Throne Room

Description

the first glimpse at the interior of the drake empire's royal palace. The throne room is the most important room in the entire kingdom. from his throne, the high king is able to control his empire like a god, managing the very world the drakes call home and delivering orders to his followers and citizens. there are no guards in the throne room itself but there are many outside who keep heavy watch along the exterior and various entrances. the room isteslf is very symbolic. the pillar behind the throne representing drakes united, the room itself mirrors the city outside its walls with the 4 doors on its sides representing one of the elements, or sections, of the city, with the king in it's center to symbolize his rule and representation of his entire race. despite the security and importance of the chamber and the human examples of monarchy and rule, it is not difficult at all to gain an audience with the king or queen. all they need to do is ask.
the High King's palace is very much alive. many of the hundreds of rooms, chambers, and hallways are constantly shifting and rearranging. as the palace ages more and more rooms are added. the palace remembers everything that takes place in its walls and records those memories on the walls and doors themselves, acting as decoration which can change based on whoever is present in that room. an entire room can change based on the preferences of its inhabitant. the palace also protects its inhabitants through various means, mainly through trickery, although it has been known to violently react as well. it is impossible to teleport into the palace past the entry hall unless you actually belong there. most attempts to prove this wrong have ended in abysmal failure as the palace has a rather sick sense of humor for where it lets intruders emerge, if they do so alive.

I hope you guys enjoy. my scanner didn't really pick up some of the details like the mist coming from the fountains on the pillar but I figure a colored version can fix that. unfortunately the drawing ended up making the room look smaller than it actually is, I clearly need more practice with space as the room is supposed to be about the size of a large football field.

I hope to have a colored version uploaded soon, along with the other projects I owe.

please comment!
