Cathog

The Cathog are a primitive and violent race who reside in some of the most inhospitable environments known to man. their planet, as described by some humans and drakes who have had the misfortune to witness it to be identical to classic depictions of Hell. other life forms are rare and what few there are should not be underestimated as everything there is lethal. despite the hostility of the planet, the cathog are incredibly numerous, numbering in the billions. this is because the cathog possess a series of unique abilities for reproduction. the cathog are capable of having multiple children in a single year and mature quickly, being full grown in no less than 10 years. they are able to impregnate other creatures and be impregnated by them in turn, they are extremely fertile and the child is always a cathog. because food is scarce cannibalism is common, often having babies just for food. because of their war-like ways, they rarely live over the age of 25.

their horrific nature is not found only on their own planet however, small groups of cathog occasionally go through drake portals left on their planet from millions of years ago and find themselves on earth or in the drake world where they run amok unless captured or killed. they are very susceptible to demon possession where they are used to wreak havoc on humans and other organic life forms. because of this they are often called "incubi" due to what the demons use them for. they only have access to magic when possessed. they are a common problem for the Graenahm to deal with.

due to their nature, Cathog in the drake world are used as gladiators of sorts, where they are allowed to relieve their pent up aggression and calm down gradually over time. once a Cathog has calmed they are allowed to be turned into drakes and given freedom. Cathog population is kept under strict control in the drake world. Cathog who have calmed but refuse to become drakes are allowed freedom under several conditions: they no longer need to fight, but must remain under close observation and control, swear loyalty to a drake family in a process similar to how new humans are handled, and be sterilized. the rare cases of second generation cathog are immediately turned into drakes after birth. despite these rules they must endure, the cathog are treated well. they are fed, given top notch medical care and living quarters, and other than the limitation of their violent and chaotic instincts, are allowed to do as they please once they've calmed and become accustomed to society.
